How much time does it take to increase the intensity to a level of effectiveness?
The more the intensity is increased, the higher the dose and therefore the more effective the treatment. The threshold of effectiveness varies greatly from one individual to another. Usually I get a headache in the afternoon when its very cloudy and its going to rain but it doesn't. What is that type of headache called?
That kind of headache usually caused by 'atmospheric depression' is a Tension Headache. For some people the cause that triggers this kind of headache can be stress, fatigue, alcohol and for some of them (as you) that's atmospheric depression; more specifically the change i.e. when the atmospheric depression begins. Usually that's not very strong headache and that can be solved with aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprophene. Or better to live in a sunny country J. Cefaly is for severe migraine sufferers when drugs are not longer efficient. I guess that's not your case?
My migraines occur daily and either come on early afternoon or during the night. I have been on medication for the last 10 years and found that i am having to take more regurly in order to stop the pain. my medication is imigran tablets 100mg and as a back up should this not work I have the imigran injection, I also take paracetemol.
According to the description of your migraine, there are 2 ways for you to use the Cefaly. For prevention. Make a session with program 3 every day. It doesn't matter when in the day but that's maybe more convenient to do it in the evening for most poeple. But as your migraine stat in the afternoon or night. Maybe that would make more sense to do it in the beginning of the afternoon. This regular use of Cefaly prevention with program 3 or 2 is going to reduce progressively the frequency of your migraines. You can hope to get very progressively less migraines. Sometimes quick improvement, sometimes its' slower; but stick to this regular use. During the migraine use program 1 as much as needed (for 40 to even 120 minutes) to reduce the pain. That should help you to reduce the dose of imigran or avoid its use. But that takes several use of Cefaly before to get that. For you that's mainly the prevention use which will going to help a lot. If you can get a weekly migraine instead of a daily that will change a lot your situation.
